The trees and shrubs on your property are significant investments. When properly cared for by Superior Lawn & Shrub Service, they will enhance your home’s curb appeal and value. Our specialists are plant care experts, and our Tree & Shrub Care Program is designed to enhance the health and beauty of your landscape plants with each passing year.
Ornamental Tree & Shrub Care Program
Consists of 6 treatment visits throughout the season. Includes spring and fall deep-root fertilization, 3 insect and disease inspection and control visits, and 1 horticultural oil insect control treatment. An optional wilt-proofing “winter burn” protection spray treatment is also available.
Deep-Root Fertilization
We offer deep-root injection fertilization for ornamental trees and shrubs each spring and fall. A balanced ornamental fertilizer including nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and other essential plant nutrients is injected into the root zone around each plant. Deep-root fertilizing leads to improved growth, color and flowering in ornamental trees and shrubs. In addition, well-fed plants are better able to withstand attacks from damaging insect or disease pests. Plus, they’re more tolerant of adverse weather conditions such as summer drought and winter cold.Insect & Disease Control
Through experience and continual training, we are able to identify those ornamental plants that are most likely to experience problems with common insects and diseases in our area. Our spring and summer inspection and control sprays are designed to nip pests in the bud before they have a chance to cause damage to your valuable ornamental plantings. We also recommend a horticultural (or dormant oil) spray treatment in the spring or fall as another effective insect preventative for certain plants.Winter Protection
Broadleaf evergreen shrubs are susceptible to “winter burn,” or drying out of the leaves during winter. The combination of cold winter winds pulling moisture out of the leaves, and a dormant root system unable to replenish that moisture, can cause the browning or death of some or all leaves. While this won’t necessarily kill the plant, it makes for a very unattractive appearance until the plant can regenerate new, functioning leaves the following spring and summer. If this process occurs yearly, it can greatly weaken the plant and eventually cause death. Our wilt-proofing protection spray in late fall – early winter is designed to “coat” the leaves, preventing moisture loss and subsequent winter damage.
